Whether or not you are good at expressing emotions depends upon how you have been brought up to do so. Also, there is little doubt that women are far better at expressing their emotions than men, and this has to do with the typical expectations placed on boys and girls during their upbringing.
It is important that men understand that expressing emotions is something that needs to be done, especially when it comes to making sure a special relationship is kept on course. Many men are afraid of their emotions, and sometimes with good reasons, but one thing is for sure – keeping your emotions to yourself, all tangled up and stuck inside, is not at all helpful to anyone.

What are emotions, and how do we recognise them? Emotions cover a wide range of different aspects of our lives: men tend to use laughter as an emotion, sometimes to cover up deeper doubts, and sadness can all too easily be hidden away behind a false premise. Love is an emotion that men are often scared of, for it brings with it commitment, but it is a natural feeling that is down to a chemical attraction we feel with others.
A man will feel much better with his life if he learns the key to expressing emotions, and how to control such expressions without becoming over-wrought with stress.
The best way to express emotions is to talk about them; sometimes we are left feeling in a way that we cannot explain thanks to our misunderstanding of how emotions work and what they are about, and when it comes to experiences that we do not understand others may have a better understanding.
Unlike women who find talking about emotional subjects with their girl friends easy, men do not want to discuss personal issues with their male friends. Often, too, a woman can give a more accurate view of how to handle emotions and it pays to talk to a female friend about any such.
Men can be prisoners to their emotions often for this very reason – they are supposed to be the supporting sex, the stronger element in a relationship, and see admission of any emotional feelings as something to be avoided. This only leads to problems, as more and more stress builds up inside.
Of course, no man wants to burst into tears in the company of his friends, but it is vital to remember that crying is an emotional release, and there is no shame in shedding a few tears when dealing with a particularly stressful emotional situation.
It is often relationship problems that raise the most emotional responses, but there are always two people in a relationship; a man should be willing to discuss his emotions with his partner, and she should be willing to listen. All too often men believe they need to be strong for others, and all too often this masks the true emotional state of the individual.
A man can suffer – emotionally – just as strongly as a woman, and he, too, needs help in expressing his emotions.
